We could use your help in funding the $20,000 cost to get it here.
Donate via bank transfer, credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, check, or (for donations of $1000 or more) donor-advised funds.
Peace Light North America is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization (EIN 85-4115343), so your donation is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. You will receive an acknowledgement of your donation via e-mail immediately upon completion of your donation.
Dedicate your donation in honor or in memory of someone if you’d like.
Zeffy, our fundraising platform, specializes in serving nonprofits and charges no fees; every penny that you donate comes to us. Their platform will ask you to leave a tip to help cover their expenses, but that isn’t required; if you prefer you can easily set that amount to zero. Whether or not you leave a tip for Zeffy has no impact on your donation to us.
You may remember that we set up a Transport Focus Group early this year to explore options to bring the flame to North America in the event Austrian Airlines declined again to transfer it. Over the last nine months, we sought input from numerous sources, explored many options, and ran into more brick walls than we care to remember. However, we also persevered and ultimately found a way.
The total cost for specialized equipment, the flight itself, and hospitality for the Austrian envoy bringing the flame will be about $20,000. For an organization that has never needed much funding, this is a very large number. We’ve only ever kept enough money from patch sales to cover our meager expenses – the remainder has been donated, primarily to Scouting America’s World Friendship Fund.
The amount you donate is completely up to you – the $1 donations are every bit as valuable to us as the larger ones – and will have absolutely no effect on your ability to receive and/or share the Peace Light.
We want to recognize several partners who have worked tirelessly to help us achieve this goal. This was very much a group effort and we're very grateful for their contributions of time, effort, and expertise.
